Letterpress Workers 7th edition
Letterpress Workers International Summit
Letterpress Workers International Summit (LPW) is an annual meeting of letterpress designers from Europe and the Americas.
LPW is a short-term artistic residence, where letterpress printers work together on a common theme, sharing their knowledge and experience.
In short: a physical social network.
The general public is welcome to watch and meet the workers; access is free.
Lpw started in Milan in 2012, curated by Officina Tipografica Novepunti.
Since 2014, it has been held at Leoncavallo S.p.a.
True/False
This years theme
This year we want to be clear, to exercise the ancient and noble form of parresia, which Michel Foucault interpreted as “the courage to tell the truth”.
Ours is that letterpress is still alive! As a demonstration of this, more than forty designers, from all over the world, meet for the seventh consecutive year (although for some it is only the first) to work together and show, as if it were still necessary, that wood and lead types are fitter than ever.
But will this be true? Come and discover it!
Come and see! entrance is free!

During the workshop you will design and achieve an art booklet, where you will describe the two faces of your abstract city.
In one full day and using letterpress, bookbinding and technology…why technology? Because it’s part of our life and, if used with awareness and creativity, it will help you to explain your message.
Design your message, compose it with letters, print, decompose, recompose and reprint…Add a conductive graphic by creating your circuit that will allow you to light up your work (switch on and off a LED that you can place where you want).
Create your handmade booklet and the deed is done, we will drive you through the process. Every partecipants will keep his bright art booklet.
No specific skills required. All materials (press, ink, paper, type and of course spacing material) will be provided.
